pipefish and powerheads

I'm curious if i were to put one in the system with a wp-40 about 18 inches up on the left and a rw 8 20 inches up on the right, would he stay below in the rock work or would he more than likely come into contact with the pump at some point? And would he fit through the slits in these pumps? Current is pretty decent high up, but gentle on the bottom.

They will move up past the rockwork eventually looking for pods. I dont think they will pass through the slits but you never know.

While seahorses do tend to move more in the lower half of the tank, they often swim in the upper half as well, even to play in the output of powerheads.
Their tails are most susceptible to getting in the slots so it is best to cover any input portions with something like bridle veil or mesh.

I was debating on trying out the dragon? Pipefish in my tank, nothing really agressive in there and there's an impressive pod population as I've found out recently.

I have 2 hydor 1150s in my tank and my pipefish are fine around it. One is low and one is high. Pipefish are decent swimmers the flow doesnt toss them around like a seahorse for example.
