These are called scooter pipefish. I also have a pair.

I have 3 pipes that seem to be pretty happy in my mixed reef, specifically a jans, banded, and blue stripe. One of them has been there a year and the other two a few months. There is only one SPS, and dozens of LPS, among which there are four different euphyllia colonies and lots of zoos. The rocks in the front are about 50% or more covered by coral at this point, so they seem to be avoiding them well enough. I also have 4 koralias in there which haven't posed a problem. Only one of them eats frozen, and the other 2 compete with a hugely fat mandarin.
