pipefish with clowns

Possibly while the clowns are small, but they tend to get pretty territorial as they get bigger. My other concern would be that your clowns wouldn't leave enough food for your pipe as they're much faster. Good luck if you try it!

They seem fine with it so far. I feed them a mix of cyclopeez and mysis and really only go for the mysis so theres plenty of the cyclopeez. Is there any way to tell if the pipefish is eating? I havent seen it really picking around but its pretty active.

I always back off a little while feeding new guys, he might just be shy. Stay a little farther back, and just watch, unfortunately seeing him eat is the only way you'll know for sure.

You'll know it's eating when you see it picking at the rock. If it's not then it's not eating. They're pretty active grazers. There is no guarantee it will take frozen food or that there are enough microfauna in the tank to support it. What size aquarium do you have? I'd also considering offering newly hatched baby brine shrimp while it gets established.

Whether or not the clowns will leave it alone will depend on the size and layout of the tank. If you have a large-ish tank, they clowns probably stick to a small area and the pipefish will learn to avoid it.

Will a dragon face eating frozen food be compatible with a pair of false percs?

Also, it is generally best to ask these questions before purchasing the fish in question. ;)

Agree with all of this.

:fun4: that is twice today you cracked me up.

to the OP.

What size tank? I would do it in my reef, but not in a smaller tank. Depends on the species of pipe, and the species of clown too.

Right now your asking if a cat and dog can get along. You didn't mention the cat was a tiger, and the dog a chihuahua, or that it was an orange tabby and an artic wolf. You dig?

Its a dragon face in an 80 reef with just clowns, which are more interested in eating or rolling around in their yumas. I noticed it picking around when I fed them earlier and there's only about a foot of the tank that it swims around in.

I have two percs in with a pair of banded pipes. They are in a 29 gallon reef. When I first put in the pipes, the clowns went over and looked like they were going to attack. This only lasted the first day. They've been together for about 4 weeks now and the percs don't even act like they see the pipes anymore. The pipes explore the whole tank now grazing and compatibility isn't a problem for them.
