i have been reading conflicting articles as to which types are easiest to keep . one source calls the dragonface most likely to accept frozen and another says the flag/banded is.
looking for what others have experienced .

The real answer is that you can't count on any of them taking frozen foods. In my opinion, the easiest pipefish to keep is the bluestripe. They're small enough that they can usually graze on their own (assuming you're not keeping them in a new, relatively sterile tank) until they can start eating frozen foods.

My experience has been that the flagtails learn pretty fast, but the dragonface may never. Nutramar Ova seems to be one of the better things to try with the dragonface if you want them eating frozen. Flagtails will take mysis, nutramar ova, brine shrimp & cyclopeeze.

You seem to be a wealth of information. Do you have threads that have your pipefish in?
Would be very interested in hearing more.
I'm sure the op would too.
