72 gallon bow, 29 gallon sump/refugium...

2 perc clowns, 1 lawnmower blenny, 1 yellow tang...

thats my current population...i really like the look of pipefish, would there be a problem adding a pipefish to my tank? if i add the pipefish, what are my chances of being able to successfully keep a mandarin as well???

thanks

You can keep a pipefish with a mandarin with no problem. I have for over 2 years. I wouldn't add him to your stock though. The only aggressive eating pipefish I have experienced is the northern pipefish. All others are not as aggressive and your tang and percs sure are. The pipefish may not get anything to eat and will stress.

Just my opinion. What type of pipefish are you talking about and how big?

its not tank size.. its flow... pipefish like conditions similar to seahorses... The yellow tang may also out compete for food (depending on how aggressive yours is)

I would venture to guess that the clownfish coupled with the possible mandarin would easily out compete the pipefish. Also, like stated, flow would be a huge issue. In short, I would avoid getting one, dedicating your current tank to them by eliminating competition, or setting up a new tank dedicated to the pipefish.
