pistol shrimp and goby, when will they come out?

Bought a pistol shrimp 2 weeks ago and it seems to be fine, digging sand and carrying small crushed coral. It even attempted to Cary my small hermit. It was pretty cute until when I got home from school the bubble coral under a small cave made with rock was buried in rubble, sand and crushed coral bits. I grabbed the poor thing but its pretty much dead and disintegrated. I Felt bad and good since I wanted to give it back to the LFS because it killed my long tentacle plate that is doing well already. Last week I bought one hi fin goby and added him. The pair of clowns bullied and harassed it till it hid under the rocks. Yesterday I caught a glimpse of it in a small burrowed tunnel and it had paired with my pistol. After that the pair rarely come out :( I'm worried if they might starve to death. Is there anything I can do to get them out? Or should I just leave them?

I see a little puff of dust from behind the rocks once in awhile. I really regret my purchase of a shrimp and shrimp goby. I guess I could keep adding more until there's no room left to hide. :)

I've had a pistol shrimp and goby that would move around from time to time, sometimes the locations would be more visible than others. The goby generally isn't going to stray too far from the burrow unless it is getting food or some other important task, so if the burrow isn't in a very visible spot you probably wont see them very often. The goby should come out for food, or at least fetch food that comes near the burrow. If you don't see that happening you can try spot feeding and see if that will help the goby get food.

Thanks for the reply guys ^u^ I still can't see the pair but the burrow is still visible. I somehow do regret buying them since I could barely see both the goby and the shrimp. I'll just wait things out and see if they will move and make a new burrow somewhere. My pistol is so messy and never stops digging at the back of my tank. At night I can somehow see the pair but partially hidden. I feed my corals at night and they must've got most of their food at that time since the goby is much active when the terror clowns are sleeping.

Mine took a couple weeks to settle in, but they're out all the time now.
My three share a tunnel system with a pistol and a Twin Spot goby that hangs out sometimes with them as well.
Be patient.

My wife and I have a Pistol and Harbor Goby who we hardly ever see either. We also have a Blue Spot Jaw Fish that decided to reside with them. Now we never see the jaw fish except down a crevice in the rock. In addition, we have a Diamond Goby that hangs more with them than being out and about. I hope in time they find a more view-friendly hacienda.

Woah that looks cool! I may try adding one more goby and see if it will join my paired goby and shrimp. That's the goby I have too, is that a hi fin goby and will it stay that small? I'm sure adding one more in a 10 gallon won't hurt right? Thanks for the reply guys! I'm still quite new to this hobby ^u^

Yes, those are Hi fin Red Banded Gobies.
They stay pretty small, I don't see a problem adding another.

And thank you. :)
