Pistol Shrimp and Goby

If I am thinking of getting a Pistol Shrimp and Goby pair, do I need a deep sand bed? I only have 2 inches, and just thought I'd ask to make sure.....

FWIW, It doesn't matter of the type of Goby, as long as it wil buddy up with a pistol shrimp.

I've got a yellowwatchman goby and a tiger pistol,they seem to be happy together,FWIW the pistol will relandscape your sand for you . I would't put too much sand in maybe 1 inch.
