pistol shrimp versus sexy?

Okay so I have a 12g nano with both species and its just doing swell!

now in a 3g pico we have both as well.. but just introduced 2 sexy shrimp to a tank with a relatively large pistol living in it.

Now one sexy has gone missing... is it possible the pistol ate it somehow? I can't really fathom why this would happen =\

I am wondering if I should move the other shrimp to the other tank where the pistol lives with his gobies

Ive got a question about the pistols

you say shoot...what does this mean!? are these shrimps in any way dangerous to small fish, corals, or anything else?

Pistol shrimp possess a large claw. The snapping of this claw produces an audible "snapping/clicking" sound that can be heard outside the tank. I had 2-3 pistols hitchhike into my tank and I could hear them through a closed door in a seperate room!

The snapping of the claw produces a pressure wave (and cavitation) that can stun and I suppose even kill other livestock. I believe that my pistols may have taken out a goby that I had in the tank...though I can not be 100% certain.

chrisstie...how long has it been missing? Could it just be hiding out somewhere in your rock or coral?

I love the snapping I think it is cool :) Didn't I read somewhere that the water moves so fast through the claw, the sound we hear is the water breaking the sound barrier?

I'm not sure about sexy #2. There are a few places but not many to hide in the rockwork of the 3g. I can see sexy #1 just fine poking around.. Have been in for 2-3 days.

They both hung out on the top of the heater when I first put them in then the next day they began to explore.. by the time that night came I could only see one.

I had a little wild caught shrimp like a glass shrimp swimming around a lot and now I don't see him this morning too.

I was told this shrimp is big because he was rescued from someones tank because he may be eating their fish.. I think I could believe it but I didn't think he'd bother thes elittle guys

That is true. I have seen him grab a hermit crab that comes kind of close.. pull him in then bring him back out like literally tossing him out of the cave.

Boy I hope the sexy didn't try doing that :(

I had a A. bellulus that I believe fatally wounded a sand sifting star. I did have him paired up with an A. randalli though which I liked very much. In a pico I'd be wary of keeping a pistol. They are opportunistic of course.

Yeah I think this guy might be slightly more aggresive since he isn't paired with anyone. To solve the problem we moved the sexy down into the aquapod 12g to live with the other htats doing well in there
