Pistol shrimp...

Are pistol shrimp harmful to anemones and other invertebrates ( snails shrimp and hermits) and fish??

Some species are harmful to inverts. A friend of mine had one that killed every hermit/snail that cruised by his hole. There was a pile of shells. It was NOT a mantis shrimp.

I watched a pistol shrimp fight a crab yesterday I kept hearing clicking and looked to see what was up and the shrimp was actually attacking the crab

should i get rid of it?? I have a couple of snails and a hermit and will soon be adding an anemone.

my pistol shrip will throw out the occasional snail that goes into his hole but other then that he is fine with everything

Same here.

Ive had mine for many years and had one before him for many and never saw it kill a snail or crab.

The crabs I and snails I have in that tank have been in there for a cpl years to and still there lol.
Now do I have as many as I started with? I dont think so lol but dont think the pistol had anything to do with it.
I have a bullseye pistol by the way and a small hitchiker brown one. Before that had an all red one for maybe 10 yrs and the bullseye has been around 8 or so now to I think.
Mine have been pretty longlived compaired to any other shrimp.

Yeah my 2 pistols dont bother anything. They will fend off their home but I havent seen anything harmful.
