Pistol Shrimp..

I can vouch for pistol shrimp aggression (yes, pistol not mantis). Ive watched him obliterate several inverts including worms, crabs, other shrimp and snails (he is the only purposely introduced invert left in the tank, besides the larger snails). Fortunately, he shows no interest in the fish.

I've recently watched my Pistol come out of his burrow, snatch a snail or hermit off the floor, and drag him into his home for a mid morning snack. He just snatches them up using his pincers and away he goes.
Mine shows no aggression towards the fish or other shrimp (cleaner and fire shrimp) in the tank.

This is pure speculation, but I would bet that Alpheus sp. that pair with gobys are less aggressive than species who don't. My shrimp is a Alpheus armatus, they don't share a commensal relationship with gobys.

What sp. does everyone else have??

Heres a pic of mine:

Look at my post above...
He basically comes out whenever he wants and snatches a snail or hermit for a snack. I don't really see him eating the snail/hermit but I definitely see it dissapear with the pistol down into the burrow...
No aggression towards anything else in the tank...

I see. Well, maybe aggression is'nt related to the pairing or non-pairing species.. It just seems to me that a shrimp that can adjust to living with small peaceful fish would be less geared towards aggression.

Ive watched my shrimp attack and kill quite a few inverts, theres no question about that. It took him a few months of harassment, but he even killed an emerald crab that was close to 2" at the carapace- way bigger than the shrimp.
