pistol won't pop

My pistol shrimp is completely silent (but very busy and active). Should I be glad?
Also, I'm trying to make sure I select the correct goby for him. I believe this is Alpheus bellulus but would love verification from those in the know...

I will pair up with a lot of gobies. Also I would not be worried about it not popping. I had one paired with a Yasha White Ray Shrimp Goby
(Stonogobiops yasha) and it was great. My goby died after about 4 years then shortly after so did the shrimp.

On reeflex bigger gobies are advised like Cryptocentrus sp. or Amblyeleotris sp.: http://www.reeflex.net/tiere/802_Alpheus_bellulus.htm We have one without a gobie and he seems to do fine. But one sees all variations of behaviour only if the pistol shrimp has a symbiotic gobie with him.
