Placement of symphyllia sp. (on sand, rock, other?)

Hi All,

I have two nice large specimens - roughly round colonies. One is about 5-6" is diameter, the other 6-8".

I have had them positioned on the rockwork - but they just look "wrong" - it is obvious they didn't grow there. I have seen some pictures of these corals resting on the sandbed - that would be idea, but I am wondering - how do these corals grow naturally, in the wild ..... its easy to find pics of clams wedged into the reef, and pics of staghorn and plating sps..... but I can't seem to find a pic of these, for inspiration.

The tank has 400W MH, and is only 24" deep - so light intensity is not an issue.

Thanks
