Placement question on my 225 mixed reef

Hello EcoTech!
I must say that I am really excited to receive my MP 60 today. I currently have two MP 40s and they are on opposite sides of the tank. My rock work is so that there is no "rock wall" on the back, so as to give my tangs lots of length to swim both front and back of the tank. This is a mixed reef tank. I'm thinking of placing both MP 40s on one side and the MP 60 opposite them. I would like to create the wave motion that is so beautifully demonstrated, but a little afraid that it will crack my 12 year old AGA tank! Do you think I should be concerned? Anyway, I've done some reading and there are people who placed the MP 40s on the back wall, and one MP 60 on one of the sides. I'm not sure if that will work as the tank dimensions are 72x24x30H. How close to the surface should I place them. I've noticed that ther is not much wave motion on the surface of my tank with the two MP 40s about 10 inches from the surface of the water...and I'm sure that the MP 60 will help.
Thanks for your expertise!

I'd put one MP60 on the side, toward the back of the tank. Please one MP40 opposite it, and one MP40 on the same pane as the other MP40 but closer to the front glass. I'd then use long-pulse mode to create a gyre with the pumps that are opposite one another in anti-sync and the two that are diagonal in sync.

i have a tank with the same dimensions that I am setting up. I have 2 MP 40 pumps that worked great in a previous 210 gallon tank when placed on opposite walls. However, my problem is that my stand has cabinetry on one side so I can no longer place a pump on that wall. Would a pump on the back glass work in this instance and if so what mode to run it in?

Nothing wrong with putting a pump on the back glass, it's just not as ideal. I'd run it in a random mode such as reefcrest or lagoon.

Tim,
I would like to bring this thread up :)
my new tank is 72x36x24 , i have 2xmp60 and 2 xmp 40 all run via Profilux . what optimum placement would you recomend? Most corals are SPS with some LPS.

thankx, Mike
