placing brains on rock?

I have 4 brains coming in tommorrow and i was wondering if i could place them on lower rock work, there mostly open brain coral. thanks a bunch guys!

Depends on your lighting. Metal Halide might be a little strong to have them too high. Better to be on the safe side and put them on the sand. I do however have an open brain that is half way up the tank under t12 VHO with no adverse reaction (over 15 years)
 
if you're asking whether or not it will be fine to keep them low in the tank the answer is yes. That is generally the best place for them. If you're asking if its okay to place them on rocks, the answer depends. If the rocks are smooth and flat it's generally fine. The rocks are uneven and sharp, you run the risk of damaging the polyp when the coral expands.

Remember that these corals expand daily so if there is a possibility of damage when expanding, it would be undesirable. I keep mine on the sand.
