Plankton reactor

Expressing interest in breeding clownfish, I inherited a plankton reactor.

In the manual on
Page 6 , it gives instructions on automating the process with 2 dosing pumps. Has anyone done this?

Also is there a benefit to using this over 2 liter bottles? I have the one without the light. Thanks.

I'm not sure, but will there be enough phyto to feed both rotifer and brine shrimp with one of these reaktors?

These are 3 liters. In the manual it states that under optimal conditions it can produce 1L-1.5L per day. It appears that this is part of a 2 stage system, the one the guy gave me I guess is the Rot part. It also looks like that if its running correctly the 2 stage system will produce 1L of Rots a day. I'm not sure yet if its worth 80 bux a piece to have ultra cool soda bottles hanging on the wall.

I have several of those reactors. Mixed results. I think they are too small . I ended up growing the roties in a 5 gallon tank. In my opinion its not worth the80$ . soda bottles will work just fine. It will grow phyto well but not a litre a day. I have them set up in a greenhouse with perfect temp and was not able to get that much in a day. If you draw a litre off ,it takes several days to grow it back to the same density.

They work well and will only produce the full 1 liter per day if you inject co2. With co2 the culture will get very dense, much darker than the photos.

I use co2 as well. They do get dark green but if you draw a full litre out of the reactor it takes more than 24hrs to get that dark again

Just curious, how many bubbles per sec do you add?

I use a ph controller set at 8.0 and a bubble count of about 1 bubble per second. It cycle on and of quite abit at 8.0 but works well.
Now that setup posted in the pics is cool but I just dont have the space so have to use the wall mounted tubes.
