I am planning to go away with the family for 2 weeks. I will have a cousin come to check up on my tank every other day. What should I do to prep my tank to the extended trip away.
Here is what I have planned.
Large tub of enough RO water for top offs feeding directly to the auto top off.
20 Gal of ready salt water in case of emergency.
Check and clean all plumbing and pumps.
Auto feeder to feed the fish.
everything is on a timer so it should all go on and turn off by itself. In fact all I am having him do is to check the system. His instructions will be to call me if there is an issue.
Anything I am missing?
I am also looking for emergency back up people. I am looking for an experienced reefer or two who I can call in case of emergency. Since his experience is limited with tanks...he has a beta, but he is also a boat captain.
If there is a real issue that he cant fix then I would like to have a club member to call in. It would only be in case of emergency.
