Planning a BIG Tank for the future.....

yeah, I would put green board up. I would be afraid of moisture getting into the framing if I didn't. Plus it would give the fish room a nice finished look.

Run several vent lines out of the basement, I have 2-4" ducts out. Wish I had a 6 and an 8" duct run.
They make some killer inline fans but anything larger than a bath fan requires 6-8" ductwork.
Wish I had known that before I finished the basement it would have been cheap and easy and in fact I'd run an extra one and cap it off because you may need it for some reason and it would be much easier to do before hand.

Another thing would be to have the chiller mounted outside in a small box, or small shed of some sort up against the house.
I wish I had some 2" pipe ran to the exterior for that.

I know of a guy in Denver than never even needs to run the chiller in the winter because the water flowing through it gets chilled by the outside air. As long as the water moves it won't freeze and I figure a guy could really slow the flow on cold days with a ball valve so as to not chill the water too much. Or get a heat pump like I have that heats and cools water and if it's a really cold day or 2 then the water going through it will heat up and help stabilize the temp.
I've found that my heater almost never comes on, maybe once or twice a year. 600 gallons takes a long time to get cold, so the cooling aspect is the important one.

Mounting the chiller outside would solve all the heat and noise removal issues.

cool. I would need to pump the water up 8 feet then outside. I have plenty of room outside to have a small shed to house that.... definatly something to consider.

Yeah you will pump it up 8 feet 2 times including the trip back in. Thats gonna be some head loss, but you just factor it in. Chillers like a slow flow so maybe even a little Dart would be plenty for that loop.
Think about it, it may be overkill but atleast give it some looking at

It also depends on what size chiller you go with to determine how much flow you need. If you go to slow you could freeze up and damage your chiller. Like Chris’s 2HP has a minimum flow rate of I think it was 2200 gallons an hour and a maximum of like 3200 gallon and hour. If the water is rocketing through the chiller, it can’t do its job and will never shut off.

Wow, sounds like some Xtreme Aquatics, I have a mag 9.5......... What would a dart do to my 120?
I just put a dart on my 125 and love the amount of flow it put's out.

Hmmmm or Huhhhhhh food for thought, maybe after joining the 1000 club, would that be a SPS only tank, poor fish would have a chance.

If my pipefish can swim through it after food I think any fish would be ok.

You will love the dart, but not for your open loop if you are running a fuge. They are the cats meow for closed loops.

Tim hows the build.
I kinda ran into a snag on the overflow box. It may be a couple more days before I can put it in.

You must be designing or enginnering something for the 90?
I'm about ready to do a overflow on the 55, I'm bound to run into some kind of trouble. Don't worry Scott is feeding your pipefish!

I almost stole that pipefish from Tim today, LOL
That thing would be perfect in my 10.
Tim will probably leave it down there for 3 more months till the 90 is ready for it just to torture me.
