So my tank got out of hand with green hair algea and i added gfo and its been diminishing really fast. But i think i added too much gfo and it put my tank thru a mini cycle as my sand bed started showing brown spots that i havent seen since i set the tank up almost 3 years ago. This weird green plant has been over taking one side of my tank and some sort of red macro algae has started growing as well. I just want to figure out what it is. I rip this stuff out by the handful each week and throw it away. If its beneficial to some people id like to give it away for free, but want to id it first. Thanks

Thank you! Is this something others might want in their tanks? Id hate to keep throwing it away if someone has a fish that will eat it or whatever other use it has.

Uh were are you located? If you have noticed the shipping on online stores.. They are high because it is all 1 day shipping...

I ship quite a bit of macro algae... Fairly easy..

I use a 6x6x6 box from the post office (staples has them as well). I line the box with basic white stryofoam and throw a heat pack in the box. I ship usps priority 2-3 days and never have any issues. Shipping 1-2 types of algae in a box this big should only cost you about 6-8$ in shipping cost plus the cost of box n Styrofoam..

Hope that can help ya out

Can anybody tell me what this green tube stuff is. Thanks

Looks like a single strand of chaetomorpha

+1

Also, regarding shipping - USPS also gives you free Priority boxes, you can get them in the post office or even have them ship them to you for free. My only gripe is that the small sizes are all thin rectangles, not square :/

I use the usps priority boxes that are 6x6x7. They work great. Unfortunately not available at the post office, but your right they will mail you the boxes for free
