Plant to ID if possible

Got it off the shore in northern california. Curious what it is exactly, if you know please tell. I placed it in my tank to see if it will grow. Got some grass like stuff too, that is the second pic.......

Huh, I'll have to go through the sticky section above and see if I can figure out which kind and what it needs and how big it grows.

Kelp (Laminariales), not really that difficult to understand.

it grows off most of the west coast in dense forests (yes a forest, miles and miles of it 200' tall), it's a cold water brown algae, it can grow as much as 3' in a day, it grows from the sea floor upward and is found at depths of 250' and less
