What kind of plant can I put in a 10 gallon that will not overgrow or grow put of the tank?

A mangrove is the only plant I can think of that is remotely saltwater related.

Do you mean coral? Algae?

none of them should grow out of the water like mangroves, I would recommend cheato though.

Are you looking for more of a display type, or something strictly for nutrient export?

FWIW, sea grasses are a plant, not a macroalgae, as well.
