plastic starage for refugium??

I wanted to set up a refugium for my 65 gallon. can I use a big heavy duty plastic storage box? I plan to direct some of the water from the drain hose which now goes to my w/d filter to a separate refugium. then have the refugium with overflow box drain back to the w/d filter. i'm not worried about looks you will not be able to see this.

I suppose you can. If you do it, use a Rubbermaid Totes or Brute container. I would, instead of using an overflow, put a bulkhead into the Rubbermaid and use pvc to drain the water back to the main sump. Seems like a much more 'safe' method than to add another overflow to the mix.

Agree with above. You would probably have to elevate the container a bit so it could gravity drain back to the wet/dry or sump. Just add a clip on fluorescent light (see melevsreef.com)
