I was specifically thinking about magnets. I could take any inexpensive magnet and dip it to seal the metals. Then I can use them to superglue my MaxiJet mod.
I used it on a lead weight to hold down airstones in my skimmer. I dipped quite a few times, and there were never any signs of deterioration over the course of a year. I think it would work well with the magnets.
Good to know. I may have to look into this more. I recently bought some epoxy covered magents. The problem is that the epoxy is so delicate that I chipped it the first day. A plastic coating over the epoxy would add more flexibility and durability to a good magnet. Using this on an uncoated magnet would save money because the epoxy coated magnets are quite pricey.
