Plate coral has white stripe

I just got back from a week away from home.

My short tentacle plate has a white stripe from the mount to the edge.
I guess this is recession.

Any thoughts on this?

The tank was probably overfeed while I was gone and the nitrates are sky high....

My guess is the plate receded some. If nitrates are really high you should be thankful that's the only damage. It should recover pretty fast if you are feeding it.

My kit only reads to 50.
so I diluted it in half with distiled water.
It still shows the max (100)
I then diluted it again and it read max (150)
Then I diluted it again and it read about 5
so I guess my nitrates are 150+
