Plating Coralline

[Pink Coralline]

Ok, so I have read in different articles that there are different types of Coralline algae, hence why there are different colors. I have purple coralline growing and plating off my powerheads but not off the rock. Is it different than whats on my rock?

Oh the joys of corraline. It will never grow where you want it. It grows very rapidly in plastics so powerheads and overflows are quick to get covered. Then when you want your back glass to get covered it grows all over the front. I have been getting good growth scraping my glass and letting it fly around.

It looks really cool the way its plating, I just wish it would grow on the back of the glass just like you said Bmiller. Maybe plate off my rock too. I got this really crazy blood read coralline growing too. I thought it was gonna darken like the maroon coralline but it hasent yet. Its pretty though...

Vinegar is an easy way to clean it off pumps. Just soak them for 2 hours in vinegar and it will come right off. Obviously, I'd rinse them before putting them back in the tank.
