Sorry, if this is against forum rules.. I posted the same topic in local forums under CHicago.. but wanted give it a try here as well, since maybe more people will visit this forum.. here it is:

Hey good people.

So here is my story. Two weeks ago started searching to purchase a Picasso or even Platinum Clowns. Finally last sunday, I was able to find store in Chicago, and price was not bad at all. Well, first of all, I did try read as much as I can about that fish. I though I know all... well, I guess I did not. Below You will find some pics of that pair I got. First of all, I have never heard about deformed clowns...till this week. If You look at these pictures, I think I am right about this, that these two buddies are not perfectly in shape - body shape ? Look to me like there is some kinda of deformation to the back side of their bodies, near back fin, lower fin... I am not sure how old they are, but they are not bigger than 1" (so fairly young). They do swim a lot around my tank. Very active fish. So if anyone has any knowledge about deformed clowns.. PLEASE share with me and tell me if these two have any chance to live?

Second of all.. I have a problem to make these two to eat anything.. I tried frozen misys soak in garlic and Selcon, I tried frozen baby brain shrimp, pallets... Seems like they swim to it, then have no interest whatsoever.. At the LFS they fed them for me with pallets and they had maybe 1-2 bites..

NOW, I know I know.. I should be more careful and do more research.. I wish I was smarter though to do it before I spent my money. I am mad at myself.. mostly :) Little bit at the store that they even try sell them (due to possible body deformation). Still 99.9% blame goes on me.

Now, I just have to find out if there is any chance for these two, what else I can do for them to help them have as best as possible life, and how to make them eat ?

After all it is just money, which I worked for very hard. Lesson learned.

Please, give me any possible and best advice, so I can get the most of that.

Thank You.

ps. store I got them from, got VERY GOOD REVIEWS on this forum, so it made me trust them little bit more than any other place.

Your fish will be fine in your system. If they had genetic flaws in nature, they'd be the first to go. That's right Nemo. Dead. Their offspring may be more likely to carry these traits, so they may not be a good breeding pair. I would try some flake food. If that does not work, I feed Rod's to my tank and all my fish love it.

Dunno why, but whenever I've picked up young percs, they've done the hunger-strike thing for a few days. They seem to be unable to resist frozen cyclopeeze though - so feed cyclops for a day or two and then start mixing in mysis/pellets/etc and they'll take the other stuff too.
