Platinum Percula with Black Ice?

LEDs For All

Not too much experience with the clown pairing....I started a 34g solana. I'm putting a platinum percula in. I was wondering if I can put a black ice or possibly a Picasso in with it. If not what is the clown most similar to the black ice or Picasso I could put in at the same time?

The color morphs you are mentioning are all the same species, just different genetic variations in color. Put them together and see what whacky crap they produce.

I was under the assumption some were percula while some were ocellaris and they couldn't go together..??? So a platinum percula and a black ice will be fine together?

Yes they will be fine together, and ocellaris is also known as a "false percula" so they are the same species, just different colors/patterns

They are NOT the same species, hence the different species names of oscellaris and percula.
They will however, often pair together without issues.

Platinum are A. percula. So you want to get another percula like a picasso (not A. ocellaris or "false percula"). Snowflakes (like the Black Ice) are A. ocellaris.

Besides the Picasso (and Platinum) there are also normal orange and white A. percula fish you can get. I would not cross the species.

Here is a good list with pictures:

as some have posted they are not the same. but you can pair them without a problem. if you want to keep them both percs, then go with a picasso, onyx or another plat. if you want to *** a occy to the mix, add a snowflake, black ice. i do suggest adding them at the same time. be easier for them both.
some ppl have crossbread them with success. snowonyx are a perfect example.
