Platinum won't eat

I got 2 ORA platinums 1.5 weeks ago. The larger of the two isn't eating. It will nibble at things, but will spit it back out. I have tried home made reef blend, frozen mysis, pellets, and flakes. I even tried putting some garlic in the foods. Is there anything you guys recommend I try next? They are by themselves in a 30g with a rbta. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried frozen cyclopeeze? I had a friend with misbars who wouldn't eat.. I have him some of my PE cyclopeeze; they loved it. Now they're eating whatever.

Not sure what's in those cyclopeeze but my fish go crazy for it.

+1 on the frozen cyclop-eeze. It's clownfish crack!!

I also feed New Life Spectrum Thera A+ .5mm. They eat it, just not with the same gusto as the Cyclop-eeze.

Thanks, I will have to try the cyclopeeze. Is the dry stuff different from the frozen stuff? Is the Instant Ocean brand any good?

Mods, I kinda started this in the wrong section. I meant to start it in the clown/nem forum. Sorry

I've only used the PE brand of frozen. I've heard the freeze dried is hard to get hydrated and tends to just float.

Instant Ocean ones as stated are non dehydrated but rather in an alginate solution and are shelf stable. I gave a boat load of them away at the last BAYMAC

Not as a main food but have you tried live foods? Adult brine shrimp enriched & then mix in frozen. If the food size is to big they will spit it out.

Thanks a lot for the replies, everyone. My LFS' don't seem to have any frozen cyclops in stock. One store does have Nutramar. Has anyone tried this stuff? I have heard nothing but great things about this product, but have yet to try it.

I had to use frozen fish eggs, that was the ticket. Now both of my Platinum's are eating and doing well.

They are very small, so I also use the .5MM Spectra One pellet and crushed up Brine Flake that is high in HUFA.

Good luck. They are cute little fish. My wife said they look like monkeys in white PJ's.

it silly but its probably the texture and size of food. i once had really small fish and what i needed to do was take the pellets i had and let them sit in tank water for 5 min then i would use something to smash all the food to mush, but when it resuspended in water u could see it was just tiny pieces of food and the fish went nuts eating it. try using the food you got and try my trick.
