Please change the MP40 design

The openings on the grill are too big. I have been running this pump for 2 months, and have had snails crawl into the pump three times now. This last time it destroyed the wetside. I had purchased a extra wetside with the pump for a back up and now just purchased another. It is crazy that i have $650 into this pump in only two months. My Tunze pumps have ran for years, I have not spent a penny on parts for them, just clean them as needed.

This is not a new problem PLEASE FIX IT!!!

I've had MP40's for 5 years and never had a snail get through the grill. Are they getting in through the front where the water comes out?

You can also use the foam guard that comes with the pump.

Yes they go in through the front. The foam guard is tempting but I know it will need to be cleaned regularly. The Trochus snails are breeding in my tank. There are several in there around the size of a dime, and they will not stay off the pumps. The grill is a $10 part, It would be nice if they would make a optional version with smaller openings.

I was getting ready to purchase another MP40. But now I am considering cutting my losses and get two more 6095s and just selling the MP40.

The fellow reefer I got my mp40 from superglued clear vinyl screen 1/4 x1/4 to the front of the wet side. Works like a charm. Hope this helps u out.

Thanks, I have been wondering a good way to do something like this or maybe removable like the Tunzes.
