Please critique my RO/salt mixing setup

Please let me know if there are any major concerns for this setup.
(any suggestions/improvements are welcome too!)

How about fewer valves ... in the diagram I just made, you would only need to open 1 valve per task.

Salt mixing would be accomplished via a powerhead submersed in the mixing container.

Valves:

1) dispense RO to tank ... topoff? Should use a top-off controller or something.

2) Fill salt mixing tank

3) dispense salt to tank

4) drain salt from tank

Notes:

Valve #1 is prob not needed ... if you're just looking for a way to dispense RO water rather than supply topoff, just add a spigot to the container. Same for the salt container... just add a spigot for your convenience.

Here's another version of the same diagram ... This might be closer to what you want.

Thank you for the input CSB! I was hoping there was a more simplified way to do it. I like the second proposal, I would just need to tweek it a bit, because I wanted the salt mixing pump to also be able to pump the new saltwater back to the sump after mixing. Since my tank is 3 rooms away from the laundry room (where this setup will be implemented) I opt to just attach a garden hose between the two for draining and refilling.

Cool ... keep us posted on the progress. I'd love to see how this ends up working for you

Well, here it is!!!! my new and improved RO/Salt mixing set up....
the top container stays full of RO water with the help of a float valve, and the bottom container is the salt mixing container.
The bottom container also has a float valve to refill it with RO water, and maintain the level from evaporation.
Additionally, I can open one valve and fill the bottom container from the top if I need to make back to back batches of new salt water. The pump is a MAG 7, used to circulate the salt water container, and also has a hose spigot which allows me to pump the newly mixed salt water to the sump of my tank 30 ft away.
The downward facing pipe in front allows me to fill up buckets of RO water only if I need to wash parts, top off my tank, etc...

I only wish I set this up earlier, it makes maintenence so much easier!

What do ya think!?

Very nice, I really need to do this as well. Are those regular bulkheads fitted to the containers?

Also, I notice your fitting looks like its brass. I'd be a little concerned about that seeing as brass is mostly copper.

Thanks! yes, they're just your run of the-mill bulkheads. they seal fine against the round trash-can.

the brass fitting only sees saltwater when I'm filling the sump during a waterchange. I have a similar one Tee'd off my sump pump for draining my sump during the change, and have had no problems for the last year. since it is only exposed to saltwater about 10 minutes every 2 weeks, I don't think it should be an issue.
if they do ever get corroded, I'll just replace them.

In follow up, if anyone knows whether they make garden hose fittings which are pvc or plastic, which thread into a 1" FPT? If you find them let me know and I'll change them out regardless..

1" MPT / SLP reduce to size
Lowes has a great selection !

Thanks for the kudos guys, it's working out great!
The only thing I wish I would've done would've been to paint the stand with a white water proof paint before plumbing it. I suppose in a few months when it's time to take down the containers for cleaning I can always do it then.
