I have this corals for about 4 months doing great and having babies all over, I upgraded from my 55 to a 125 couple weeks ago and for some reason the coral is covered with something like a spider web some polyps are out. I've been moving it thinking it was waterflow I had it way up and now it's on the bottom but I don't see any improvements. All other corasl are doing great and open, except my goni that I had for almost a year, not receiding but not opening much, might be the clean water.
here are some pics. Thanks

Yes two more 40W bulbs I had 3 40W 1 110W Actinic before, now I have 4 40W and 2 110W actinic, I'm using 2 Icecaps 660.
I just tried to clean it off with the turkey baster and they are worms! like spagetty works and they are embeded :( I wish I coud take a better close up picture. Now what? I haven't add anything, even the sand is brand new!

have you been feeding at all? could it be getting attacked by neighboring corals in its weakened condition? acans are aggressive butit doesnt look to healthy i would try to offer food, low flow, and maybe shade it a little..

It looks like it got burned.

Are the worms white? It sounds like the coral is dispelling it's mesinary filaments. They are basically it's stomach contents. They can dispell them at night to attack nearby corals, but I've seen them dispell them when they are stressed.

This Orange Acan is attacking the glass with them.

The worms are white like spagetti worms but a lot smaller and when they are not disturbed they form like a spider web all over the polyps, really weird. It could be mesinary filaments. Stills gets the feeders at night I saw it this morning. I used to feed it when I first got it but then I stopped, never acted like this I can try feeding it again, maybe is all the stress from the move and the new clean water? right now it's on the bottom with slow flow. I hope it comes back.

i would definitely feed it, it will need food to recover.. i would feed as much as it would take..

I had a great response to feeding last night, they do look much better this morning and they are not covered with the fillaments, I did changed the position again. I'll keep you posted. Thanks :) should I feed them today too? I don't want to overfeed

What else could it be? they eat like pigs but nothing have changed I do see a lot of new babies. Some polyps are infladed but others look the same. Not receiding, one thing I can see is that there is no space for the babies they look like they are tight. I'll try to get another picture tonight. I can't figure it out what's wrong!

How are other LPS/acans doing in the tank?

What's your alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, pH?

Just trying to think of something. In my experience acans are very resillient and can bounce back even when they look like goners.

alk 2.5 - 3.0, calcium a bit high around 460 - 480, mg 1600, ph morning 7.9 before lights go out 8.3 salinity 34ppt, auto topoff with limewater. frogspan, brain, candycane, cup coral, couple of small leathers, sps's, goni, zoos, xenia, digitata, clams, ricordia, doing fine, I can't remember what else I have in there :), it happened after I upgrade from my 55 and put them high up on the rocks now they are on the bottom.

Looks like the area getting the most light is the least happy. Maybe try putting it in a different tank, or in a cave somewhere.

I'll try to put them in a shaded area, I wouldn't think my lighting is that intense (I have 4 clams, one been a crocea :) a little over a year)all the way to the bottom, I'm using 40W 6500K bulbs, overriding them with two IceCaps 660s total of 4 6500K and 2 110W actinics.

I just had an ich outbrake that pretty much whiped all my fish, but a clown, a two damsels :(, I had a PBT, Kole tang, jawfish, sixline, 4 chromis, 2 firefish. The tangs where new and the problem started before introucing them.

nice update picture.

I now thing it doesn't like the lighting. put him in the shade until it recovers. You can tell the polyps getting direct light are the ones that look the worst. You may be able to move it out for periods of time.

My acans love the light, but I have to acclimate them to it over like a period of a 3-4 weeks. 14K 250 MH here on a 30 gallon cube. There are some that don't do well if I move them up higher and they stay on the bottom.
