yep, that's me too, I bought a refractometer and a pH meter in the first month I was back into reefing, now just saving to get even more meters!

You can leave it in your tank yes and yes they do work well. I only use mine every time I do my testing.

Sandalscout, I got a refractometer about 2 years ago, it makes testing salinity a lot easier then to tap bubbles off the dial on the hydrometer.

I got my refractometer off ebay for $20. There is one on there now with battery operated PH meter for $40

yep, I think I got my refractometer and pH meter together for about $50 shipped from taiwan. I don't usually like buying stuff from China (Taiwan isn't so bad in my mind, for some reason), but I am constantly impressed with the improving quality of stuff coming out of China now.
