I have a copperband with a a white cotton like ball in its mouth and some white little balls in the caudal fin. I have tried instant ocean Lifeguard 5 day treatment twice (removed first treatment with Carbon and water changes before starting second dose), and I am now in the second treatment of Mardel Maracyn plus and still I dont see any improvement. Today is first day the fish refuse to eat, and I have the feeling I am loosing the battle. Please any help or suggestion what should I try. besides the big white tissue like material in the mouth and the little balls in the caudal fin the fish shows no other signs of infection.

Thanks.

Pictures would help a lot. But first would suspect ich but ich infections tend to stay small and spotty. Maybe brooklynella?

Doesn't sound anything like brooklynella. Do the white balls have a texture like cottage cheese or miniature cauliflower? If so, this is lymphocytes, a usually harmfulness virus. If this looks like the culprit; it goes away with pristine water, good diet vitamins , and time. If this is lympho and is growing in the mouth area, I'd do some minor surgery. Hold the fish gently with a small towel soaked in tank water and just use your fingernail or a sterile cuticle scissors. dab it with Mercurochrome and he should be fine. I've taken lympho lumps off several fish this way. Being a virus, meds do nothing for lympho. This is best guess, a pic would help; but lympho is common and easily diagnosed with the description above.

Yes agree, it sounds like lymph. The fish can usually rid of it if it is aware that it is there. Else the manual removal sounds good. A picture if you can get one would be great.
