stays steady at 79 just based on room temp.
And pumps. Having the main pump disconnected from the display could have dropped the temp. Maybe not significantly but worth looking at before opening it all up.

Nutrisea water was $11 for 4.5 gallons, yea it was expensive but I was trying to save the fish I had left so I didn't really care about the money...it's only money:lmao:
I usually run tap water that I mix with conditioner and salt. My tap has about 10 of nitrates in it. I've found a place this morning that sells ro/di water that I will probably use from now on. Even though my neighbor has a beautiful
Shark tank using tap water and never had an issue and Ive never had any algae problems in my freshwater tanks that I've kept the past 15 years. I know the volatile topic that tap water is, not looking to get I to that. Lol.
Honestly, an ro/di system could be given to me for free and I wouldn't use it. As someone that fishes in water system resivours I see the devastation of droughts and over water usage....personally I think it's disgusting to waste as much as much as an ro/di system wastes. And I am not a green peace tree hugger type either.
I've read that some of these ro systems give you 3 gallons of good water out of ten gallons, how do you store that much waste water? I use almost 3 gallons a day in top off, plus water changes, that would be like 250 gallons of waste a month

So you will buy RODI pre made but not buy one to make it yourself? Sounds weird to me. But it doesn't really matter some use tap in reefs and it works. But as you stated you have already read about that and it's up to you to make the decision.
Sounds like you have a good plan on your course of action to fix the issue so good luck ..
If you are worried about waste you could pick up a Kati Ani (spelling?) system. They make water just as clean as any rodi with no waste, once the resin is exhausted you just regenerate it.
Thank you, never heard of this....I'll research it
Sorry about the loss, I am sure the kids were unhappy, you did what you could. Because you shared your experience, it help others in the future who read the forums.
With an RO/DI system you can also run a ATO (Auto Top Off) so your tank water level and salinity remain constant (hands-off). I have my waste water plumed outside to 1. water the trees, 2. animals, 3. wild birds. It is not wasted at all, it is recycled. Also, you can get a tap on the sink to offer RO water for your family to drink and connect it to your refrig for quality ice.
I'm surprised anything lived if both A and N were "off the chart". Get a test kit and you will be able too test all the time. Get the kids involved in this and they will learn a great deal from the activity.
Good luck...
The place I found that sells rodi told me that they have a near zero waste system, the waste is plumbed into this huge water heater looking tank and gets used, not wasted....so I wouldn't be wasting water by buying from them.
I'm not sure how to make use of the waste water, I've seen posts were people have it pour into huge Rubbermaid garbage cans then use that water for plants and laundry but how I'm going to get it from my rodi downstairs to my toilet and laundry room upstairs has me stumped
