I understand the desire to be "better safe than sorry" but if I removed and treated every fish that had some kind of spot or blemish appear, I would not be able to do anything but catch and treat fish. Sometimes fish get stung by a coral or an anemone or bruised by a rock.

Are there other fish in the tank? Frogspawn? Anemone(s)? Did you add any fish that could have brought something in? What are your water params? A little observation and logical deduction can sometimes be all the treatment a fish needs.

Hi Steelhead77, thanks for reviewing, I have not actually put this flame angel in my tank yet. I purchased him from the local LFS, and placed himin QT as standard practice. I do agree that I do not believe he has any ich....I also believe he seems free of Flukes, and my own research seems to point me towards some type of fungal infection....

However, I have a 150 Gallon DT, with extensive Rock work and once a fish goes in my DT, that is it....if it gets sick it stays in there and some member of the clean up crew will eat it....

My parameters are as you would expect with a mature 1 year old DT...

NH3 = 0
Alk = 12
Nitrate = 0
Ca = 400
ph 8.1 at night 8.3 at end of day...

here is a link to a blog about it....kbreef.blogspot.com

May be Lymphocystis, but the image seems to show some sort of ring around the lesion on the right side - that wouldn't show like that if it was Lymphocystis. Also, Lymphocystis is more commonly seen on the trailing edges of fins, or where the fins touch the body. It may just be a broken fin ray from handling....

Thanks Jay & Regal Angel for reviewing, I thought about Lymphocystis as well, however I have to agree with Jay, that I do not think so....as it is not on the trailing edge.....well the good news is that it has receded further today...so the last week in QT dosing with ParaGuard seems to be taking care of it....thanks for your help....

My experience with ParaGuard is that it works great, especially when your not sure what your fish has but it works slow.

Thanks Akrite, yes it seems Paraguard has done the trick....the white is all gone and now there appears to be a hole in the fin about 2mm in diameter where the white spot
was. I can only presume this is progress as the fin looks good except for this small 2 mm round hole.
