Hi gang, im finding it exremely difficult to get high flow in my tank atm. The dimensions are 24x24x30. Currently im running:

. return from sump Ocean Runner 3500
. tunze steam on single controller 600
. 2MJ1200 and a MJ600

where should i postion these to get the most water movement for an SPS BB tank, bearing in mind:

. i want to keep muck of the bottom
. i have no more money!!
. i have 3 hydor flows if need be

i know this is a long winded post but im really getting frustrated and dont want to give up SPS BB for a Softie SSB. all help appreciated. madok.

ps. i may post this in the reef forum too.

I would think the Tunze stream would give you a lot of flow just by itself. What abouta few of the powerheads aimed towards the glass at an angle and have some other powerheads aimed straight. That should cause some flow all around your tank.

You could also see if you can sell your Maxijets or trade them in at your LFS and get a SEIO 820 or something like that. Another Tunze would be great but you said you didn't have enough money.

You could try modding your maxijets.

Check out the DIY thread for the maxi-streams. Tons of extra flow for 4-7 bucks more ;)

cant do the maxijet mod as living in England its too difficult to get all the parts needed. Its not like i can go to Home Depot as there isnt one. So where would you place all the 'heads to get maximum flow?

The idea is to have currents blast into one another or bounce of the glass...

Place the tunze in the top back corner pointing diagonaly accross to the opposite corner, do the same on the other top back corner with your return, imo that alone should be enough... Place your M-Js in similar fashion around the mid/lower half of the tank to cover any deadspots...

point all the poer heads towards the bottom then but allow the tunze to not be pointed at the bottom

the hydor flow thingys take to much flow out of the power head for what there worth good for nanos though

the other thing would to cut the output on the maxi jets so you get a wider flow or a reefclean system
