A little about my tank 12 Gallon Aquapod 70 HQI
1 GBTA 6"
1 Gold/yellow 6"
Black clown only hosts Gold
I have one Black Ocellaris about 2" and I attempted to add a 1.5" onyx perc, besides being different species, I shouldn't have a problem, they are closely related. Anyways, come the introduction of the Perc, he went on the attack, mercessily, going from his anemone, and just dive bombing the perc, back and forth back and forth. The True perc fought back a little, but the Black Occ. is very aggressive, he tore fins, ripped scales, ect. I know If he had been left in there, he would have died.
The Black Occ. has been removed, and put into my neighbors tank, with the thought that he is defending his anemone/territory, if he would be removed from the tank for 2 weeks, it would give the new perc time to adjust, establish its territory ect. The True perc as of right now is active, feeding, and is just a little beat up, I'm treating with Stress Coat and Melafix, as they rapidly repair damaged fins, and encourage slime coat.
The idea is that with the reintroduction of the Black Clown, the true perc would shake in submission, due to the size difference, and they would form a pair.
Does that seem reasonable? do you guys have any suggestions? For successful pairing
Keep in mind, My Black Ocellaris is extremely aggressive, I can't do Tank Maintenance with out getting attacked! He has the temperament of a 6" female Maroon.
