Please Help Me With My Skimmer Problem

I just got a Berlin Classic Turbo Skimmer and it didnt come with a pump. I get a Catalina 2200 from Brannon that pushes 850gph, the Turbo pump pushes something around 750.

It has THREE venturi's (IDK what they even are, but i know that the turbo pump has one...)

OK, so i hooked it all up, and it bubbles a little bit, but not enough. SO i hooked two bit airpumps up to it (the hose that sucks the air) and it made alot of bubbles, and alot of microbubbles. The water flows in, and out like it is supposed to, but the bubbles dotn reach the top of the tunnel to come out of the collection cup. SO, no skimming. IDK what the problem is but i really woulk like to figure out what is wrong with it. if any of you know, please let me kow. The pump should be more than what the turbo pump is, and the catalina has triple venturi, and that must be good. maybe i just hooked somethig up wrong, but i doubt it, it isnt THAT hard...lol

Seth, temporarily try your return pump, see what happens. It will let you know if you need a different pump, I'm not sure how you adjuct the berlin skimmer, my octo skimmer has a pipe adjuster to control the skim, and the corrallife has a control knob to adjust it.

Also, I assume you are testing this in saltwater? I made the mistake of testing my protein skimmer in my bathtub (freshwater)when I first got it, and thought it wasn't working. :rolleye1:

Is this a pressure rated pump you are using?

I think part of the problem is you are missing the venturi piece for the skimmer. I'm not sure if you can buy those anywhere,

The Pumps you gave me tave the tiple venturi thingie, IDK what that means in any way, but i think you are right...???
