Please Help my Fish

thanks ... he is so stressed out ... I have no idea what could possibly have caused this. The only thought is that my pistol shrimp may have popped him or something. I am really worried.

Hey Jose! Give me a call when you get a chance.

I haven't seen the goby since he went into the tank on Sunday. The shrimp comes out a bit at night and seems to like a similar area of the tank as the wrasse likes to sleep in. But this was in the middle of the day. When I came home at 7:00, he looked straight terrified, like he had seen a fish ghost or something. I have no idea what spooked him.

I'm sure you may have already ruled this out, but just to make sure.....no chemicals or anything got dropped in the tank, right?

no one was home all day and the tank has a tight fitting lid and canopy. also, all of my corals and inverts seem absolutely normal.

man, if I am so attached to this fish. I should never have named him!

Okay, another long shot.....any new vibrations coming through your place? Do you have a heater in there? Did it break?
Sorry for the nutty question, but I feel so bad for you!

that is a good thought ... I guess it is possible that something crazy happened during the day when I wasn't home and that really freaked him out. Everything seems normal, though. Maybe he just went through withdrawl as that was the longest he hadn't seen a person in a while. The lights are off now and so I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Hey Adam,

Any pets...dog or cat that could have spooked him? Flashers get spooked easily, but I've never had one act that way for more than 30mins or so. It could be the shrimp making noises, and it's taking the wrasse a while to get use to them? But really im baffled. Update me when you can and let me know if there's anything I can do.

That's really strange, even if spooked, wrasses usually resume their usual swimming everywhere routine. We have 4 wrasses and whether they get chased away or spooked, within minutes, it's back to normal. Are you watching away from the tank or up close? Might be agitated with you staring closely, if you are doing so. Also, you may want to ask for help over at the reef fishes subforum, if you haven't. Usually there are many fairy wrasse owners post there.
