Please help!! Panic mode might start in 5...4...3.......

I have a small frag (8-10 heads) of zoanthids that I have had for 5 weeks. Yesterday I noticed that they have a white fuzz in between the heads. I tried to get an answer from the Zoanthid Forum, but didn't really get any response. I am thinking it is a fungus or a sponge, but mostly thinking fungus. Also, they open up beautifully every morning and the white stuff is not on the heads.

So now I need to take the frag out and clean it. One problem...I have epoxied the frag to my bottom rock and would have to remove all of the rocks to take it out. I do not want to do that because this would cause chaoas in my tank!! But, this is my first frag of zoanthids so I don't want to hurt them at all. Can I take a knife and pry the frag off the the rock? I did use a lot of epoxy so it is sitting on a large piece. Also, to scrape it (white stuff) off, do I really just use a soft toothbrush and then blast the frag with a baster? What kind of dip should I put the frag in? I don't have any medications at my home so if you can think of something, please be specific and I can go out and buy it.

Thanks for the help. I just want my cute little zoas to be ok.

Pictures of the zoas and white stuff in between.

without a better oic it's hard to tell exactly what it is. There is a fungus that grows on zoas. use a flat headed screw driver to pry th frag up. And as mentioned earlier dip in a lugol's iodine soution for a minute or 2

as soon as you do a freshwater dip, you'll know what it is.

just swish it around in ro water, and if it is some kind of parasite it should release itself and disconnect from the zo's. If it is a sponge, it should just kind of 'melt' away.

I'm doing this because i can't have 666 posts! :(

hahaha sorry. :) Good luck with your zoa's!!

Aim a power head at it for an hour or so. Check how the coral reacts. You may not need to remove it. It is possible that it is just glue and needs to be rinsed off for the polyps to open up again.

I wouldn't want to spread it around the tank if it turns out to be more than just glue.
