My tank is 6 years old, and I just blew up one of my power compact fixtures (it was a 36" PC 2x96 watts) I also have on the tank a small 24" 130w PC lamp in the back.So there was a total of 322 watts and the tank runs at 78 degrees now.
There are softs and LPS in there now, but I would like to add some sps too.
I cannot hang a light from the ceiling, so whatever I get will have to have legs and sit on the tank. How hot do you think the tank will get. I have no place to put a chiller.
The tank is 24" deep.
I am looking at two fixtures:
1- Outer orbit HQI 24" 1x250w mh with 2x24w T5 actinics total watts are 355w cost $467 http://www.championlighting.com/product.php?productid=80155&cat=721&page=1

2- Outer orbit 24" 1x150w MH and total of 280 watts. $350 with 2x65watt dual actinic ,,, or,,, $409 with 2 65w actinic T5 lights

Your thoughts and help here would really be appreciated.

have you considered t5s, jewel aquariums from germany make a hhod with t5s in it, im sure someone in the usa would be a dealer for them, try looking on line at the jewel trigon 350 corner tank, its 92 gallon and it just might fit, otherwise you will have to have astand for your halide, as for which 1 of the 2 youve highlighted, sorry im not sure

I say get the one with the 250w halide. On a 24" deep tank it'll be great.

You'll want to slowly acclimate your tank to the new lighting regardless of which fixture you get. Do some searching, I bet you can find a better price on those fixtures.
