Hello All,
my reeftank is a little over 8 months old, I have a 60g cube with xr30wpro, mp40, sump and a 1/10hp chiller. the man who services my tank every week says my levels are great (i trust him as he has been doing this for 30 years), i will post them if needed. i recently just bought the chiller because i had a day where i came home and everything i loved dearly was unexpectedly dead. the only survivors were my clowns, purple and green hammer coral, lord howensis acan and green wellso. for some reason whenever i try to add a fish it dies, so until i figure out what is going on I will no longer be adding anything, because i care about the animals and do not want them to die. I called my service guy yesterday to let him know that a baby yellow tang i purchased died within 4 hours of putting it into his new home after being quarantined for three weeks. I just cant explain it. my calcium is at 430, dkh is at 9, mag is 1300, temp of tank is 76.8 degrees, we do weekly water changes, i have even brought in water samples to the local fish store and they said they were good. We are all literally at a loss for words because we cannot explain this ridiculous phenomenon. my service guys seems to think that there is some predator in the tank, but i cannot explain it. I removed the sally lightfoot weeks ago, and the hermit crabs are a nice size but surely it cannot be them. please help!
sincerely,
A very frustrated Reefer (Mike)
