I was just wondering if anyone trains their Fish to do tricks. I would like to teach mine a few because it would be so cool. I recently ordered a Tursiops aduncus and would like to know the correct way to reward it if it does what I teach it. I know it will be a long job but it would impress my friends and I could probably post pictures in a Blog. If anyone is a skilled Fish trainer please help me out. I would feel pretty foolish if I spent all that money on it and the Fish just hangs out doing nothing but eat.

Oh Man, has anyone acclimated one of these. I am trying to hold it underwater and it keeps trying to come to the surface. I hope it is not sick.

I don't think I would hold it under water ? what kind of wreath is this wrathe? are you acclimating to qt?

meant to say what kind of fish ?

Omg I did it again ! lol can always tell when Im up to late... no sleep again! my sons been so sick 103 fever so he's up all night in out of shower lowering temp then he's up early.
What kind of "FISH" is this?

Man it would be great if I could get it to jump through a wreath. Do you know how to train it to do that? ;)

WaterKeeper, it is best if you lay it up against the door for 24 hours first to acclimate it, then hang it on the door and watch it closely.

Do you have a QD? (quarantine door) They are well worth it, you don't want to put your doorbell and peep hole in jeopardy.

Many wild-caught wreaths carry diseases that you do not want anywhere near your door.

I hope you're not trying to put it in your 29g. It'll need at least a 90! Or a really big swimming pool. As for it coming up out of the water- some fish have a tendency to do that, especially if they have underdeveloped gills... or no gills at all.

As for training- All the people I've ever seen that train there Tursiops aduncus seem to use a dog whistle to get it to do a trick & reward it with fish.

wow this thread has me sooo lost! Is this a wreath were talking about?

I know WaterKeeper is a little odd, but I don't think he'd put a wreath in his fish tank.

Is this what your Tursiops aduncus is doing? (Quoted from your "Have ICH looky here!!!!!" thread)

"Infected wreath dash around the tank, rubbing on the rockwork and, in latter stages, gulp air from the tank surface and refuse food."

It was trying but after I weighted it down it doesn't seem to be doing anything now. Maybe I've come up with a new cure for ich!

O good Lord this is just too funny. BTW the best way to train a Tursiops aduncus is to just grab a shoe and slap it around a couple times if it doesn't do what you say. Or you know how some people push on their dog's bum to get it to sit down? If you want it to jump, you should just take it out of the water and hurl it around the house and once it starts doing it on its own you can reward with lots and lots of fish .
