Please help with my Jedi mind trick

Hello,

I acquired a Jedi mind trick frag about 2 months ago, and it's appearance is starting to concern me.

When I first got the frag it was a very dark green with big red polyps. It no longer extends it's polyps and has lightened in color very much. The coral however is growing. In the 2 months, it has encrusted the plug and has started to attach itself to the rock. The new growth is a bright blue color.

The frag is located in a high/medium flow area, directly under my 6 bulb ati dim able t5. The frag sits about 16" under the light. The tank it came from was running. 400 watt halides, and the coral was in a shaded area on the bottom.

My parameters are very stable.
Undetectable nitrate and phosphate, no algae issues.
Ph - 8.0-8.3
Alk - 9
Cal - 400
Mag - 1300
Salinity - 35ppt
Temp - 80
Photoperiod - 6 bulb t5 suspended 6" above the water. Runs 7am-11pm(7am-11am 20%, 11am-3pm 100%, 3pm-7pm 20%, 7pm-11pm 10-0%)

I know my photoperiod is long, but the bulbs are not ran at max for very long. I also acclimated the coral to my lamp over the course of 4 weeks.

I have many other sps in this system that are doing great. The parameters are kept stable via 2 part doser and a kalk reactor.

Any other questions I can answer to help you guys better help me, please ask. I greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

Have you tried moving the frag to a different location? Looks like it started to bleach and is now recovering. I have this same frag and I have mine at the lower portion of my tank. When I tried moving it higher it did not do as well....so mine stays about 2 inches above the sand which puts it about 30 inches below the light (strong led from Hydra 52 lights)

+1 to natas. My Jedi mind trick is getting huge, and is the lower 1/3 of the tank off to the side. Probably getting too much light.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try it in a shady spot. I guess I just overlooked the fact it may be getting too much light since it is the lowest sps in the tank.

I don't know if its too much light but its defiantly starved. do you feed your sps at all and are you carbon dosing, running gfo, bio pellets ETC? if so then i would stop until it colors up

Any dwarf angels in the tank? My potters thinks Jedi mind trick is the most delicious thing he has ever come across. Mine looked similar to that until I pulled it. I assumed it was starved because it was always retracted to avoid the angel.

Good luck
