I've had my tank up a running since mid October, cycle ended in mid Dec and started to add my fish shortly after. I started with Porcupine Blowfish, Blue regal tang, and a yellow headed sleeper goby. Given I bought a QT tank and had it set up; one would think I would have used it (freaking noob). Sad to say I didn't. I figured they all looked good and came from the same store, plus couldnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t keep all three fish in a 10 gal.
Anyways, they all looked great, acted great, and ate great. So about two and a half weeks later I added a yellow tang (last week). Man, all was good, and fish looked great. Dori (BRT) and tangy (YT) were swimming together. I started to think this stuff is too easy. So I bought my last couple of fish, a pair of True Percs, which I did, and am currently quarantining them.
Now, problems started about four days ago about 3-4 days after the tangy was introduced. Dori started to get a slight case of ICH/ICK, just on and around the tail fin, and was scratching herself quite often. So I asked around. People (forums/LFS) told me it might be the addition of tangy and to keep an eye on her to see if she fights through it or gets worst.
Well, a couple of days went by and Dori was not getting worst but not better, either. However, I noticed that tangy started to get black/reddish dots all over his body, fins and all. Now, he is eating well, and acting pretty much the same, except a bit more skittish.
I know I screwed up by adding them straight into my main tank, but it's to late now. How do I fix this? LFS told me to treat my tank with "Metronidazole", but I've also been told not to treat ICK or any disease in your main tank.
Any suggestion? Please don't be too harsh on the noob...
