Okay,
So I'm freaking out a little, been doing this for a while but had to go on a vacation after a deployment and came back to a missing chromis, and a Coral beauty , tested and all levels are good. But then I noticed my new bubble tip is TURNING INSIDE OUT! The man that was house sitting did an amazing job but we did kind of throw him off the deep end with the tank.
What do I need to do? Do I just say farewell?
I posted this on new to the hobby on accident. In the large pic the nem is in the lower left, it's just a little bubble tip that I'd like to grow. Everything in my tank was grown from a $20 frag.
I included pics of the tank as it just woke up and pics of the nem as well.
Any guidance would be awesome.

the tank is a combination of my entire hobby. it used to be 2x 30 gal bio cubes + a 19 and this 65 have been established for about a year. i added the BTA about 4 weeks ago and it was looking great. but now it looks like its on its way to the "pearly gates"
that pic prolly wasnt as good as this one.
everything i have started off as a $20 frag....
and yes ther was an expensive learning curve... this may be part of it.

levels:
salinity: the proper 1.025
pH: 8.2 (i might buff, but not before i get this under control)
ammonia: .25
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 20-40
phos: .25 (! adding phosguard after i get this under control)
calcium: 450

The ammonia should be 0 for sure and no3 is pretty high as well. What lighting are you running?

well, i honestly think the ammonia is from the loss of a rather large coral beauty.... which the house sitter never even saw... so i guess the cleaning crew is doing their job. i use coral frenzy to feed the tank 2 times a weeks, the pulsing polyps feed on them (according to the LFS no3 is essentially coral food)
is it possible that the nem was growing and then my clowns tried to host it before it could support them and they just beat the crap out of it?

and the lights i have are:
2x Galaxyhydro Led 55x3w Dimmable 165w Full Spectrum LED Aquarium Light for Reef Coral & Fish
in a custom hood i built i know i need to upgrade but they have been working for the past year i keep them dimmed to ensure i dont bleach anything.

The tank should be able to handle a dead fish without showing ammonia, could be a problem with the test.

I would do several small water changes every few days for a week or so and see where you are after that.

And yes it’s possible that your clowns abused your anemone.

my thought exactly! just nice to know that im on the right track... heading to the LFS to pick up so rodi for the topper and some prime salt for a small water change.

Good luck I think you will be fine once everything settles back down

Ammonia is definitely a problem. There are numerous broducts to remove it. Water changes will help, but you need it zero asap. If your just buying a RO/DI, what have you been using for your topoff and your saltwater. Could your house sitter possibly have used tap water. If so that would account for everything, especially if they add chlorimine to you water supply. Personally I would do a large water change.
Nitrate is not a problem for a BTA. It is food for them.
