Please Help

Hello - I just added some Micro Alge to my tank - not sure what kind it is . It looks like a green ball of fishing line. What kind is this ? Is it OK to put in directly in the reef tank ? Will this help with Nitrates & phophates. What other kind can be placed in the tank (I have no room for a fuge) that will help control nitrates & phosphates ?

It sounds like the macroalgae chaetomorpha. If you read through some of the posts you will see it is very popular.

Any kind of macro can be placed in the tank. If you want it to remain free floating, ulva and (to some extent) gracilaria are very popular.
