Just got this softy for free. Added to my tank a few hours ago and it seems to be very happy. Can you confirm what it is.

Thanks for the reply Cloak! After checking some pics I'm not sure it is a colt. The colony that this was dragged from resembled a tree. It had a long trunk. But at the same time the coloration and stems certainly look like a Colt. Perhaps when it grows out a little I'll post a pic again just to be certain

hard to put an exact to it... I have one that is very similar and I have yet to ID it specifically. Looks more like a form of a finger leather though.

Ok so here is an updated pic. Has good polyp extension and you can start to see the formation of the trunk I mentioned. It took some damage when I was getting it bonded to a plug with an elastic but it seems to be healing up now.

Hmm now im just confused lol, doesnt really look like a kenya tree. Ill give it another try in a month or so after it grows out a little more.

that is a cauliflower colt coral (klyxum sp.)

most definitely not capnella/kenya tree

Ok. I'm still sticking with my previous guess then. (Colt coral) Kenya tree corals have always been very abrasive to the touch IME.
