Im setting up my first all SPS tank, here is a picture of what i have so far, i have a 400W MH about 1 feet above the tank. My question is, is this to much, or do i need to raise it more or lower it down? the tank its about 50 gallons, but as you can see, its connected to a 70G Tank, two 10G tanks and a 20G refugium. Also what will be the best light to run under the Refugium? currently i have two 24W T5s on top wich are 56K. I wan to make this the best SPS tank possible so any advice will be great, also i did a quick video of my project, but since then i changed the protein skimmer and some other things around, so plese let me know what i need to change and or improve on, any advice will be appresiated. thank you. A 400w halide might be a slight overkill for a 50g tank. A 250w unit would surfice and be cheaper to run/ cause less heat issues. What bulb are you going to run? As far as your fuge, i think the t5's will be fine. Try running them opposite to your display lighting to minimise pH swings. What are you doing for flow? a very important factor not to be overlooked.
