it is encrusting. i have it on my sand bed under 250w 14k phoenix bulbs.

Not quite sure, maybe porites if not some kind of monti. I'm loving it, whatever it is.

the lfs said it was a montipora, but im not sure. i dipped this in providone and the polyps were still out even after rinsing with tank water, blasting with a turkey baster, and dropping it into my display tank. the polyps on my other montis always retracted under this dipping regiment.

i always smell my corals before putting them into my tank. this one smells just like my other sps corals. i dont know if this helps solve what type of coral is it...

i searched porites last night but couldnt find pics that matched this coral.
