My ora borealis is beginning to turn an almost weird teal color .Im curious to see pictures of peoples ORA borealis with and without vodka dosing and/or before and after shots of going ULNS. Thanks

Oh, I have one of these in a system I dose VGV in. I'll get some pics up later.

This is before VGV dosing:

I've been dosing for only 3 weeks, so there may not be a huge difference.

Mine is just a solid shimmery green color. I vodka dose, but I definitely don't have a ULNS.

Who doesn't try to create a low nutrient system. Isn't that the way to be successful with sps? I accomplish this mainly through water changes.

Yes that is what we all water, great water quality. However to have a ULNS you need to have a way to keep nitrate and phosphate at 0 ppm. May people do this by dosing vodka, the Zoevit method or pellets. I have achieved this by running a fuge and dosing small amounts of vodka. ULNS will cause coral colors to pop and look very good.

What is the going rate for a frag of this...a frag about 1 1/2 inches long, and branching already? Curious because I saw one today at an LFS for $69.00. Good, average, or high?

OK, didn't know for sure, and came home, and id'd it from pics here and on other sites. Looks like the real thing. It's about 1 1/2 inches and forming branches. It's on a black plastic plug. Don't know if it came from ORA or somewhere else.
Thanks.
Back to the original thread...Nice coral! I may go get this one!

Where are you guys keeping yours?

Ive had mine for about 3 weeks. PE looked awesome the first few weeks. Nothing has changes except i moved my powerheads due to low flow in other areas. I moved it to a higher flow/higher light area about 12" from my MH. Its opening a little in the center, good amount at the top and alot at the base. Should i leave it and see if it settles in or move it somewhere else?

I'd leave it. Mine is about 6 " below the surface, with 250W 14K phoenix 8" above the surface - super happy with great PE (but not a whole lot of purple/blue to the tips like some pics here). Not a ton of flow in that spot either. A better, in focus :o pic from last night...

I think its more of the opposite. ULNS causes coral to become pale and dull. Thats why you have to supplement/feed like crazy to get the corals to color up when running a ULNS.
